Dean's DJing career dates back to 1989 when he was first bitten by the house music bug. The years since have seen him hold residencies at many venues around his native Scotland, and for nine months in 1990/91, a radio show whilst studying in Tampa, Florida. Now eighteen years on, his appearances are limited to special events and guest mixes for radio shows.

In early 2002, armed with a borrowed laptop and disillusioned with the print media's approach to house music, Dean launched the JJazproJect website. The over-riding principle was to create a space where people could read about the music without too much negativity. You won't find disparaging reviews here, If we don't like it we don't write about it.

In addition to editing the website, Dean writes on a freelance basis for a number of artists and labels, so the chances are you've read his work before even if you've never heard him play.
