Biog – Mark Anderson (lifted from www.deepdistraction.com)

Mark has been collecting music since he was old enough to get pocket money and his music influences reflect this breadth of musical knowledge. Currently 28, Mark first started DJing in 1993 after starting at University.

In 2002 Mark entered the 'Uptown Records' mix competition and won. The competition was open to anyone who wanted to send an hour mix of their tunes. Fighting off stiff competition, Paul Farris of Uptown records and FourFour promotions presented Mark with the prize of 50 professionally mastered demo CD's in July 2002

2003 has seen Mark play at clubs such as Club Soda (Swindon), Ministry of Sound (Defected in the House), Symmetry (Key, Kings X), Jammin (Farringdon, London) and many more.

Ethos – Mark Anderson, musical beliefs

Mark’s been djing for a long time now (over a decade) and during that time he has been a supporter of a fair few genres: Detroit techno, Chicago house and New York Garage, British house and breaks, electro, soulful house, progressive house – you name it, he’s dabbled in it. He is a true music lover. The one thing that’s been consistent throughout though has been what Madonna told him in 1985 and that’s been to get ‘Into the groove’.

Whether you listen to a mix from 1995 or a mix from 2003, one thing is consistent – there’s a groove. Be it a hypnotic bassline, a filtered tech guitar riff, some fantastic Rhodes keys – there’s always a groove.

Mark’s sets are a sight to behold too – he is the consummate professional – always making sure the tracks blend perfectly from one to another, letting the mix set flow from one idea to the next, incorporating acapellas and loops to add even more of his imagination to the groove.

Come see him spin – house music is a feeling, a feeling that is a groove
